Precise Recipe

Thank you, Lord, for simplifying things and giving us the precise recipe for our redemption. According to Your Holy Word, there is no other name under heaven by which we gain salvation, than the Name of Jesus. He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. You have clearly revealed the way to eternal life through Your Son. All other recipes will only direct us away from Your heart and lead us astray from Your love. We don’t need to earn our place in Your Kingdom, but only receive the free gift You offer. Your recipe for salvation is perfect—equal amounts of justice and mercy, truth and grace. There is nothing we can add and nothing we should subtract; the tiniest alterations to Your recipe and our salvation falls flat.

We dare not concoct our own formulations; the outcome just wouldn’t be the same. We incorporate not our own ingredients; the taste could never be as sweet. We adjust the preparations in any way, and we get something altogether different than what we desire.

Your recipe for our salvation is absolutely perfect, in every single way.

You have prepared for me a salvation that I gratefully savor every day.
