Longing

I believe that God allows difficult things to shake up our lives for the good purpose of loosening our grip on this uncertain world and tightening our grasp on Him and the certainties that His Kingdom brings. The disease that we face makes us long for glorified bodies; the violence and hatred that is prevalent among us makes us long for His love and justice that rules the heavenly places; the division and selfishness here makes us long for the unity that only Christ brings. The more chaotic this world becomes, the more intensely I long for Jesus. And my Savior is always faithful to fulfill that longing in my heart and someday my longings will be fully realized when I enter His glorious Presence.

2 Corinthians 5:2-4, “Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent [these earthly bodies], we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.”
