Freedom

The constraints of human-inspired religion are much like a corset tightly laced around our ribcage, sucking the life from our bodies, restricting the air to our lungs, confining our ability to move about carefree.

Fortunately for us, the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus loosens the binds of religion and sets us free from its lifeless constrictions. Jesus invites us to live, move, breathe in freedom through our relationship with Him. He redeems, restores, and revives, bringing life to our weary bones, and in return we serve Him by being His hands and feet of mercy. He breathes His very Own breath into our lungs, and in turn we sing His praises.

In our freedom we joyfully proclaim the Good News of the One who came to set the captives free.

Jesus calls us to step out of the formality of religion and into a personal relationship with Him. He tells us to lay down our burdens and shed the heave yoke of rules and regulations, and simply walk in unison with Him.

He came to set us free from a life of works and uncertainty and gives us instead the blessed assurance of salvation and eternal security.

Thank You, Lord for the blessing of such wonderful freedom of walking closely with You. Amen.

Galatians 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
