Captive

Sometimes I just don’t know what to think—my mind runs wild with questions of what if? Why? How? When? These uncertain thoughts and doubts cause a great deal of anxiety. They lead me astray, down rabbit trials where I was never meant to wander. They lead me along winding paths and blow me aimlessly at the winds command and whim.

Lord, You tell me to take my thoughts captive and make them obedient to You. You tell me to knock, ask, and seek for Your will to be done in my life. You ask me to trust in Your plans, Your timing, Your ways. You remind me that Your purposes for me are perfect and good. Lord, help me to obey Your prompting and turn my thoughts over to You. Help me to stop striving and stressing, and instead rest in Your care and draw peace from Your Presence; help me to trust in Your power and follow the path that You have laid out.

Lord, taking my thoughts captive and making them obedient to You is the surest and quickest route to mental clarity and freedom. Thank you for encouraging me toward this gracious option.

2 Corinthians 10:5, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
