Yesterday I went to the beach—it was just me, myself, and I, safely socially distanced from everyone else of course. I basked in the warm sunshine and felt the brush of a cool gentle breeze, while under the canopy of a bright blue sky. It was a time of much needed refreshment for my soul. The day did not disappoint in the slightest. I sunk my toes in the sand, let the waves lap over my legs, soaked up the sun on my skin, and listened as sounds of laughter echoed over the roar of the tide. I saw the Lord’s goodness everywhere—birds diving into the deep, sand crabs skittering across the golden shore, children joyfully darting in and out of the waves as if playing a game of tag, protective parents relaxing nearby, and dolphins putting on a show as they blissfully surfed on by. A day out in nature, enjoying the Lord’s creation in the company of my Creator, was the medicine my soul desperately needed.
Proverbs 17:22, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
